Don’t bother with the detox

Happy New Year to you all, I hope 2014 brings you health, happiness and peace.

I am sure that many of you have made New Year Resolutions? Give up smoking, lose weight, and get more exercise. I am sure there are a few people who feel that all the excess of Christmas and New Year’s parties need to be purged from their systems?

So begins the New Year Detox, the removal of toxins from your body, in plain speak it is the removal of `poisons` from the body. The detox supporters usually manufacturers of `detox` aids suggest that the body needs help with this usually with a detox drink, shake or tablets. It is suggested that these detox aids help the body to cleanse itself?

All we have to do is let the body cleanse and detoxify itself and refrain from taking in more of what `poisoned` us in the first place, alcohol, junk food, excess fats and sugars and smoking.

The greatest form of `detox` is self-discipline and self-control which do not cost a penny. Our liver, kidneys, lungs and skin just need a chance to rid our bodies of `toxins` without you pouring in another batch. Let your body do what it was made to do, allow our wonderful internal organs do their job without interference. Let your liver alone to do its job as a chemical breakers yard, our kidneys to filter off waste, our lungs to exhale all the carbon dioxide and skin to sweat out waste.

Our bodies don`t need any synthetic or man-made help. What it thrives on is some rest, freedom from unhealthy activities. If you are insistent on giving your body a helping hand try the occasional 24 hour fast with plenty of water and let your body do a bit of spring cleaning. Also treat yourself to a relaxing massage or reflexology treatment, your body works better when it isn`t stressed.
